course duration and dates
This is a 5 days course which takes place from Monday to Friday (40 hours) monthly throughout the year. The course starts on the 3rd Monday of every month.

day skipper theory course description
The RYA Day Skipper Theory Course aims to teach students how to apply theoretical knowledge to their practical sailing skills and is recommended prior to taking the Day Skipper Practical Course.
The course covers chart work, tidal systems, seamanship, meteorology, collision regulations and the factors to consider when coming in and out of the harbour.
A fully comprehensive shore based course, only available in the UK. On completion you will have an invaluable insight into how to make decisions on board and stay safe out at sea.
You will be taught all of the essential information that you need, to get around safely on the water. Over 5 days, or 40 hours, you will gain an RYA qualification with the knowledge and understanding or chart work, seamanship, meteorology and collision regulations.
This course will illustrate to you how to get in and out of the harbour, and what to consider when looking for an anchorage. On completion of the course you will also have sound knowledge of tidal systems and how to apply your knowledge to your practical sailing skills.
This course is recommended prior to your Day Skipper practical. Alternatively you must have theory knowledge to this level before commencing.
