the ski or snowboard instructor training course

International Academy have joined up with British Alpine Ski & Snowboard School (BASS) in Chatel to offer high quality ski instructor training courses leading to BASI Level 1 & 2 instructor qualifications.

The BASS Chatel ski school is one of the highest quality schools in Europe with a great team of instructors. The ski school also has a strong relationship with the ESF and Swiss based ski schools in Morgins, who are prepared to offer students on the course work placements through the high season periods.

Our ski and snowboard courses in Chatel are tailored for someone looking for a valuable gap year experience, a career break/change or simply a long deserved holiday. You must be able to ski or ride with confidence and control on advanced level terrain to undertake the course.

chatel resort description

Chatel is part of the vast Porte du Soleil ski area which includes in its 12 resorts; Avoriaz, Les Gets and Morzine on the French side and Morgins, Champery, Les Crosets, Torgons and Champoussin, on the Swiss side. The area has a strong history of producing both French and Swiss Olympic Champions with Didier Defago of Morgins being the most recent Gold medalist. Chatel and in particular the Plein Dranse area is regarded as the best challenging skiing area within the Porte du Soleil with great off Piste and fantastic black runs. It is right next to a series of detachable high speed chairs which access some great red and blue runs suitable for developing technique. The north facing aspect of the valley that Chatel sits in provides excellent snow conditions and because it is in a sheltered bowl minimizes the wind damage to the snow which is frequent in higher resorts, providing some great powder skiing right through to April.
