resort description

Located Southwest of Calgary & just east of the continental divide from Fernie, Castle Mountain is a remote and undiscovered paradise. From a combination of intermediate to advanced terrain, awesome snow conditions, uncrowded slopes and the best fall line skiing in Canada, Castle Mountain presents a challenge to the most dedicated skiers and snowboarders.

With an average snowfall of 29 feet, Castle Mountain boasts an impressive snow record. "When it snows here, it's like heli-skiing for a fraction of the price" Andrew Rusynyk, Assistant General Manager of Castle Mountain has commented.

It's not just the quality and depth of the powder that impresses, it's the terrain that makes this mountain stand out. On your first visit to Castle, the feeling you get can send shivers up your spine. The summit stands 863 metres from the base of the mountain, with the south side popular among skiers who like the steeps. The wind keeps tracks fresh, and the 30-degree-plus fall line is covered with light, fluffy powder. The verticals with knee-deep snow not only take your breath away, but also they go on forever. There are miles of groomed runs, natural half pipes, deep fresh powder to shred and perfect fall lines. We’re talking run after run of steep continuous fresh tracks here with bowls, trees and chutes to keep you going all-day-long.

Castle Mountain is a full service ski area with all the amenities of the larger mountain resorts, without the larger mountain prices.

If you're looking a challenge, then take the Castle by storm!
