the ski or snowboard instructor training courses
Our courses provide the opportunity for you to experience Wanaka and train at Cardrona, New Zealand's premier ski resort with it's amazing people and culture. This course is scheduled to fit in between "A" level and University start dates. So, if you're thinking of an exciting way to kick off your gap year, a new career in snowsports instruction, or simply an extraordinary way to spend your summer, you can gain your NZSIA or SBINZ Level 1 & 2 qualifications in readiness to work the winter ski season!
Our courses are co-ordinated by the Cardrona Instructor Training Centre, which has their most highly qualified, motivated and experienced NZSIA qualified trainers and examiners working full time for you. This includes five current or ex New Zealand Demonstration Team members and a number of senior ski and snowboard examiners. The courses are overseen by Bridget Legnavsky, Cardrona Snowsports Manager who has been part of the NZSIA demonstration team since 1996 and current author of the NZSIA Ski Division Manual. You will not get the same level of professionalism or influence in New Zealand skiing, than what we offer through our courses in Cardrona.

Why does our particular programme at Cardrona stand out from other ski & snowboard instructor courses in NZ? Here are a few key reasons:
- "Become a Cardrona Instructor". You will get shadowing experience, career development training, networks with northern hemisphere employers and a realistic opportunity to get work back at Cardrona in the future.
- You will have locker rooms and use of ski and snowboard school lift line priority.
- "The terrain" provides home ground advantage and you will train where you will sit the exam! At Cardrona, freestyle building blocks are available in the world class terrain park and Olympic half pipe. To become employed these days as a new instructor, it is an advantage to have freestyle skills.
In short, you will be fully involved within the Cardrona Instructor Training Centre in order to get the most out of the training programme provided and to be successful.
