work placements
International Academy can offer guranteed paid ski instructor placements at a European resort with SkiBound (a schools skiing specialist) during the February half term holiday if you successfully complete one of the following Level 1 & 2 ski instructor courses starting in November:
- Verbier 11 week programme
- Whistler Blackcomb 11 week programme
For the Winter 2011 season, our successful early season course trainees were placed in resorts including St Moritz, Saas Fee and Leysin in Switzerland and also St Anton in Austria.
Kevin Boxall who was placed in Switzerland said ...
"I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Saas Fee. The resort has lots to offer both on and off the slopes for all levels, skiing and social!. The accomodation was ideal in all respects and we were looked after well. Instructing the school trip was an experience to be enjoyed and remembered. Groups as large as 16, all ages - including mums and teachers - were quite challenging but fun to manage. They made it clear at the end of the week that they had enjoyed it as much as I had and thats what its all about. And I get paid for doing this?!"
For the ski or snowboard instructor jobs, SkiBound will arrange your return flights from the UK, transfers, accommodation, lift passes, ski equipment hire (if you need it) and give you a weekly wage. The ski instructor jobs with SkiBound are subject to availability and will be held for people on a first come, first served basis.
Finally, if you organise a Canadian work visa (available now) for the 2012/13 season you could book onto our Whistler 4 week University Programme (with job offer) to gain your CSIA/CASI Level 1 and then work for Whistler Blackcomb for the remainder of the season. Alternatively, you could complete the Level 1 course in Banff Lake Louise starting in November and potentially stay on and work for the Lake Louise Ski & Snowboard School (and also go for your Level 2) which many other past IA trainees have done. Although we don't guarantee employment with Lake Louise Ski School after the course (as work is subject to their levels of demand etc), everyone who has completed our November ski instructor course at Lake Louise with a work visa in the past has stayed on to work for the ski school.
If you are looking for something invigorating to do over the Summer, we offer 10 week courses at Cardrona in New Zealand which run from July through to September. We also offer NEW 6 week courses over the Autumn at Zell am See - Kaprun which would enable you to experience the incredible Kitzsteinhorn Glacier and gain the official Austrian Anwarter certification. These courses provide an ideal way for you to train and qualify as a ski or snowboard in readiness to work the winter season.
