Experience: 37 years of skiing, 19 years of teaching. Garett has taught at Whistler/Blackcomb for 15 years and has also taught at Banff (Lake Louise, Sunshine Village, Norquay) and internationally in Japan, New Zealand and Australia. Teaching Philosophy: Technically oriented, and results based, Garrett works through fun analogies and directed experimentation. Skiing Philosophy: Believes in warming up slowly and getting a feel for the snow. Use fluidity and technique before aggression, then crank up the speed, rip up the bumps, shred the powder and plummet down the steeps. It's more fun when you push your limits. Favourite Runs: Gandy dancer & Tokum for cruising. West Cirque & Surf's Up for freeriding. Meet the Whistler instructor team Return to the Whistler ski instructor courses

If you plan to train with me be prepared to ski all terrain and challenge yourself daily, both physically and mentally. I believe fitness and mental alertness make for excellent skiing as well as athleticism. I will expect of you only what I would expect from myself .... commitment and hard work. Don't get me wrong though - goofing off and skiing for fun can be the best teaching tool sometimes, and any one training with me gets lots of time to just let em' run. I look forward to skiing every day and love the mountains and what they have to offer. Meet the Whistler instructor team Return to the Whistler ski instructor courses
This Cootamundra Cowboy is a YES Alumni. Graduating with the class of 2003, Dick is the first former YES student to pass his CSIA Level 4. A full-fledged snow-junkie, he follows the endless winter by splitting his time between Whistler and Falls Creek. A true cowboy of the snow, if he’s not out blasting through the bumps or floating through the powder, you might find him breaking broncs or roping steers.
